Assigning A Post to Tagipedia

It is easy to assign a post to Tagipedia.  Please be sure the “SEO Tech Data” is selected in the screen options when editing the post.  This will enable the “Tagipedia post summary” meta box.  Please note that if you chose a different sub-heading in the Tagipedia settings, the meta box will have a slightly different title.

Important: Before populating the Tagipedia meta box, you must select the tags using the native WordPress”Tags” meta box!

Scroll down and locate the Tagipedia post summary meta box.  You need to supply a unique summary that will be used on the tag page when displaying the post.  Some publishers use the SEO meta description for this value.  You must also select the tag(s) for which this post is relevant.  In most cases this will be a single tag.  If you do not see any tags, you must first populate the native WordPress “Tags” meta box.

Enhancing (Editing) the Tag Page

Important: The tag page has two major focuses.  The primary focus is the visitor experience and the SEO implications are a close second!  However, a good visitor experience is almost always promotes the best SEO performance.  Good pages attract more links and also pass rank to the critical content.

Description – This is where the bio or description for the tag should be entered.  It MUST be unique.  It should NOT be copied from another source (such as Wikipedia).  It should be at least 300 words.

Tag Image – An image should be uploaded.  The aspect ratio, size, and type should be the same as other images used throughout the site (such as the featured image).

Image Size – The image size can be selected using the dropdown.  All the available image sizes will appear there.  The actual sizes are defined in the WordPress > Media settings.

Image Align – The image alignment can be set to either left or right.  Any additional text from the description will wrap around the image.

Q&A Section – Multiple Q&A entries can appear.  These questions and answers can be very similar to others that appear in a search result for the tag.  However, they should be redacted to be somewhat unique if possible.  After entering the first Q&A, a second set will appear for editing.

Tagipedia – This section shows the list of posts that have already been selected to participate in the Tagipedia section.  Please see the instructions above for assigning a post to Tagipedia. Please note that ONLY posts that have both the summary and have selected the tag being edited will appear in this list.

Thin Content Considerations

If you have the SEO Tech Thin Content plugin installed, you may see the label (THIN) next to posts that appear in the Tagipedia section.  These posts will NOT appear on the tag page or in the related posts elements.  These posts meet are currently being redirected because of the rules specified in the Thin Content plugin.  Action is required to address this!  Use the Edit button to edit the post and locate the Thin Content meta box.  Mark the post as “Never Redirect” and then click the “Update” button.  Upon returning to the tag editor, use the “Refresh Posts” button to verify your update.

GA Fetch Considerations

If you have the SEO Tech GA Fetch plugin installed, you will see the top 20 posts all-time ranked by traffic in descendinng order.  This list is provided as an aid for you to determine the most prominent posts.  It is ONLY a guideline and you can certainly choose to ignore some or all of the posts appearring there.  If you decide to select one of those posts, use the “Edit” button to edit the post.  See the instructions above for assigning a post to Tagipedia.  After upadting the post, use the “Refresh Posts” button to verify your update.  If any of the posts are marked as (THIN), refer to the instructions above for addressing that.
